The past few weeks have been a bumpy ride for Ariane Grande but Billboard is recognising the American singer for her smashing year on the charts.
Only a few weeks after her messy breakup with Pete Davidson, and following the release of “thank u, next”, the iconic breakup anthem we weren’t even expecting, the incredible artist is getting another honour.
Billboard disclosed this week that they would be crowning Ariana their 2018 WOMAN OF THE YEAR. The award will be presented to her next month at the 13th annual WOMEN IN MUSIC dinner and awards gala in New York.

Previous winners include Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Pink, Katy Perry, Fergie and Beyoncé. The first year of the award was 2007 when country star Reba McEntire was honoured.
Billboard’s VP of content, Ross Scarano, described Ariana as “a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry”.
“She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year,” he continued.
The award is making news headlines coming fresh off the heels of “thank you, next” which raked in over 9 million streams in 24 hours, exceeding streaming records and topping the global and US Spotify charts.
